Dinner at Chinese University with Cecilia, Fonia, Winnie (seated) and Betty. It was lively!
I didn't take any photos of the campus ... damn ... but it's kind of similar to York but with hills and more roads! They have lakes, ponds and generous amounts of wild life.
When you enter the campus there is a sign saying how many minutes it takes to walk to each department along with how many calories it will burn and what food consumption it offsets.
So if you teach in Alcuin you can have that extra pie.

Lunch
Monday, 27 October 2008
OK so that's Chinese U done, now for Thursday. With a bit of luck at this rate I will even have time to start preparing for my MATESOL session next Friday, which will take some of the pressure off next week. Only problem is that I don't have the books I need here ...
anyway, probably time for some lunch now.

Work
I'm working in the hotel today. I have prepared everything for today's meeting and so now on with tomorrow's ....
Woke up again in the middle of the night but the jet lag isn't as bad as it could be!
I realise that owning a cat is similar to being a Leeds United supporter.... when you meet a fellow sufferer/owner you instantly have a bond with anecdotes aplenty to share!
Right, I'm off out now to find an alternative place for breakfast - I'm fed up of paying $150 here in the hotel! Scandalous!

Today went quite well - met Mike at midday at Kowloon Tong and went to an organic restaurant in a shopping centre. It doesn't seem difficult to end up in a shopping centre over here! We then drove over to Lingnan where I met the dean and talked about the programme. We then went over to the tea party and gave my presentation, which seemed to go well. One student said that his dream, when in England, was to go to Elland Road!
We then drove back to Kowloon and met Jessica from Baptist University at a pizza place .,... in a shopping centre.
Got back after 10, looking forward to sleeeep!

Woke up to a lovely sunny day and even managed to sleep until 9.30.. it meant I missed breakfast and so I had to pay a bit more to have it in the hotel but after the cheap meal last might (£3!) I don't think anyone at the University can complain!
Spent most of the afternoon wandering around, trying to get my circadian rhythms in order....got a ferry across to Hong Kong island and had some lunch there (some rather suspicious beef balls...) and now back to the hotel, trying to stay awake, and will prepare for my first meeting, at Lingnan University tomorrow.

well I'm struggling to stay awake now .... just been wandering around Nathan Road looking for something to eat and I ended up in what I think was some sort of Japanese fast food restaurant! It was nice though :)
I was constantly accosted by these guys offering to make me a new suit ... I must stop looking like I've just got off the boat.
